@task Enterprise with Capacity Planning

Which projects can I do? How will a new project affect my current plan? @task Enterprise's Capacity Planner allows executives to sit down at a meeting and drag initiatives around a timeline to see real-time feedback on how those initiatives will affect other current and planned projects. When everything fits, the plan delivers full utilization. "The greatest benefit of Capacity Planning," says Scott Johnson, CEO, "is the ability for executive teams to see the impact of changed needs within the organization in real-time and the ability for them to make data-driven decisions regarding those changes."

From the Channel

Recently, Scott Johnson, CEO, and Chad Perry, VP of Business Partners, visited China on a business partner recruiting tour. In their visits to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, they discovered a high level of interest in project management. The Chinese businesses they visited were growing quickly and had a strong desire to implement tools that would lead to better productivity and continuous improvement. Scott Johnson noted, "It seems the Chinese enterprise is very mature when it comes to business methodologies. People are readily turning to portfolio management. Most of the people we met with said that this is the perfect time to enter the market." Johnson further noted that the pace of construction and growth in China is amazing.

Did You Know?

@task's latest release allows you to assign portfolio values to a project, enabling you to conveniently view and judge a project's risk, benefit, and alignment to your organization.

To assign these values:

  1. When creating or editing a project, click on the related information tab.
  2. In the portfolio values section, assign the project a risk level using the risk dropdown menu.
  3. Use the sliders next to Benefit and Alignment to assign a value between 0 and 100.
  4. Click submit.

@task provides two useful ways to view your project's portfolio values when looking at a list of projects: project portfolio and risk/benefit chart.

  1. Project portfolio: quickly shows each project's portfolio values along with the project's description. To use the Portfolio view when viewing a list of projects, click on the View dropdown menu and select Portfolio.
  2. Risk/Benefit chart: for those who are more visually oriented, a graphic representation is provided allowing you to easily understand how each project can potentially affect your organization. To use the Risk/Benefit view when viewing a list of projects, click on the View dropdown menu and select Risk/Benefit Chart.
